Be careful with the rice. A Baja Fresh employee in Atlanta told me they fry their rice in the same fryer as other items that contain wheat.

I was just at Baja Fresh and the manager mentioned that the Mahi Mahi was marinated in a soy sauce based marinade and is therefore not gluten free because we all know, soy sauce has wheat in it.

I had a baja bowl with fish, rice, vegetables, cilantro and avocado. I had symptoms with in 4 hours. Think it might have been CC.

    Hi,
Just wanted to give you a copy of wmail I received today about their gluten free menu.

Thank you for taking the time to contact Baja Fresh with your inquiry regarding gluten (wheat, barley, rye and oats).

The following menu items contain gluten:
    Flour Tortillas
    Tostada Shells
    Flautas
    Tortilla Soup
    Breaded Fish
    Raspberry Iced Tea (where available)
    Churros
    Steak
    Chicken

Keep in mind that we use only one fryer in each restaurant to fry both gluten and non-gluten items; Chips, Taquitos, Flautas, Tostada Shells, Breaded Fish.

The following do not have ingredients which contain wheat gluten-
Baja Tacos made with corn tortillas with grilled fish or shrimp
Any “Bare style” burrito or Baja Ensalada, with choice grilled shrimp or Wahoo, grilled vegetables, carnitas
Dressings and salsas do not have ingredients which contain gluten.

The above information is based on current standard product formulations. Variations may occur due to differences in suppliers, ingredient substitutions, recipe revisions, or product assembly at the restaurant level. Ingredients may be processed on shared equipment and utensils. We use only one fryer in each restaurant to fry both gluten and non-gluten items; Chips, Taquitos, Flautas, Tostada Shells, Breaded Fish.

Our ingredient listings are reported by the manufacturers. Baja Fresh(r) Mexican Grill, its franchisees and employees do not assume responsibility for a particular sensitivity or allergy to any food provided in our restaurants. We encourage anyone with food sensitivities, allergies, or special dietary needs to consult with a medical professional for informed answers relating to their specific sensitivities and the risks involved when dining out.

This really needs to be updated… Just went to a Baja Fresh and was ready to order a Baja Endalada with chicken, and the girl behind the register directed me to a sign saying chicken and steak have gluten. Then I came back here, read all the comments and saw the last person posted this info too. You really should keep these pages up-to-date better!

What is the update on this? I’m reading on other sites chicken/steak are not safe yet they’re still listed as steak above. Also, your advertising is all messed up. Half the links are going to Kelly Blue Book.

Wow I had the grilled fish tacos and chips and avacado. I suffered and really bad hives for 5 days. I woke up with one eye closed. Fish faced and covered in hives. I love this restaurant but looks like my allergies won’t allow it. They not gluten free friendly. Please keep and ask questions before eating. Best wishes
