Here’s the complete, unofficial Sonic gluten free menu.
Surprisingly, on paper, Sonic has a lot of gluten free items on their menu. However, a majority of these items will need to be ordered without the bun because they currently don’t offer a gluten free bun alternative.
That’s why it’s recommend that you BYOB (bring your own bread) if you want to enjoy one of there burgers or hot dogs.
You can enjoy french fries from Sonic as well but they do mention that they are cooked in a shared fiery so there may be traces of gluten in them.

so would it kill them to add a gluten free bun? DO they have any Idea that 20% of the population is actively looking for wheat/gluten free items?
lil baker
I ave celiac and same!

I don’t trust that they could give me a gluten free hamburger patty or anything on that menu. Not at all. Just too small a cook space and too much chance for cross contamination. And for me, that’s OK. Sonic exists to make money, and if they can’t make a decent amount of money making gluten free food, so be it.

Good to know! I love their Reese’s Blasts!!
Melinda
There tots always make me sick.
lil baker
I have gotten sick and tired of my mom and brother always eating it in my face now i could eat it too

lil baker, I would look elsewhere for gluten free meals than Sonic. They aren’t trained in how to make gluten free food and you’re rolling the dice every time you order there. Don’t go near their fries or tots, they are loaded with gluten because they are fried in the same fryer as their breaded chicken. I haven’t had any issue with the fries from McDonald’s and Chick-fil-a because they use separate, dedicated fryers.

McDonalds fries are coated in flour!+

I ordered the medium strawberry shake, with whipped cream and no cherry. Tasted great, but I had gluten attack afterwards. It is NOT GLUTEN-FREE!!!!! Never go to Sonic again. Not trustworthy!

Based on the stories I’ve heard from those who work at Sonic, I wouldn’t trust it for someone with celiac or who has to worry about cross contact.

We stopped at sonic in Memphis,Tx . When we looked on the website for gluten free it says the ice cream and some toppings were gluten free as well as other choices. My husband is celiac, we rarely eat at fast food. I went inside and was told very rudely no we dont have gluten free ice cream. If you have allergen free products and post that, it seems your employees should be educated and friendly about serving them
Murf
The ice cream is not gluten free!!!! Unfortunately I found out the hard way. 🙁 I found a different website that said the only things safe to get at Sonic are the fountain drinks.

Much to the disappointment of my Dr, the blasts and soft serve are GF although it’s good to ask because of cross contamination with malt powder made from barley… food there is a nightmare, it’s your burger with no bun kinda thing. Get the drinks, but if you want food there are so many other options.
Beki
I only go to Sonic for their ice!
