Taco John’s Gluten Free Menu

Last updated on May 26, 2015 by Adam Bryan. These menus are unofficial meaning they may not be accurate and can change at any time.

The Taco John’s gluten free menu is pretty much just like a normal Mexican fast food restaurant menu.

The only negative is the fact that I would not recommend this for anyone who is allergic to gluten.

I say this because there is a lot of uncertainty to weather or not their menu is gluten free or not.

Taco John’s say that their meat and tacos are gluten free, but customers have stated that they have gotten sick from their food.

So just to be on the safe side, I will not recommend this place for anyone with an allergy.

If you’re just on a gluten free diet, then this place should be fine for you. (I recommend Chipotle.)

So with that being said, here’s the Taco John’s gluten free menu.

I used to work at a taco johns and know that they fry their own crispy taco shells and nacho chips. They use the same fryer for everything, including their crunchy chicken. I wouldn’t eat them if you have celiac disease

It’s impressive that you are getting ideas from this paragraph as well as from our dialogue made at this place.

Our Taco John’s here was super helpful for us. We have 2 in our family with Celiac disease. Unfortunately ALL the seasoning for their meat has wheat in it. They also said they fry their nacho’s and taco’s in the same fryer as the crunchy chicken. The only thing safe was the nacho cheese sauce. 🙁

I think your lists are great but I think you should have a warning for Celiacs when possible.

Wow, that’s so sad Carrie 🙁 But yes, I agree, I definitely need to let everyone know that this isn’t a great place for Celiacs.

Why aren’t they sued under the ads for lack of reasonable accommodation?

After a quick google search I trusted this article on my first visit to taco johns.. Too bad this page is total BS!! After eating two tacos my brother informed me they did have wheat in thier taco meat. I am gonna be sick in about two hours along with a skin rash in the morning. Take some journalistic responsibility and take this article down please!!!

Hey Michael here’s a thought, if you can google so well it’s a shame you didn’t bother to go straight to the companies Website to actually look up their allergen chart. Wheat is NOT marked under hard Shell tacos.

ZOMG! Do NOT eat TJ’s if you can’t handle gluten! The main ingredient in their meat seasoning is cracker meal. (Ground crackers) I worked as a supervisor there for several years – the chips are fine, but not the meat! I guess you could do nachos or oles, but the flour tortillas are fried in the same oil as everything else, so it depends on your tolerance…

I used to work at Taco Johns (over 30 years ago.) We used to fry the flour tortillas in the same fryer as the fryer that the hard shell tacos were made. Gluten there! Also, we were given packets of spice to put in the meat and burrito mix. Pretty sure the packets don’t say gluten-free. I do know they used to have Texturized vegetable protien (SOY) in the meat seasoning.

This is NOT an accurate list if you are serious about being gf like me who is a celiac only trust info directly from the company producing the product. They carry legal liability to give correct info.

Do not eat at Taco Johns if you are looking to avoid gluten. You will get sick. Their corn tortillas contain wheat and they have no dedicated fryers.

Our local Taco John’s management shared with me that their taco meat contains oats. There is only one fryer. I don’t stop there often, I only eat the re-fried beans. 🙁

The re-fried beans could have flour in it also… Did you ask them about that?

So, this article is BS. ALL meat seasoning at TJs has wheat in it. It is right in their allergen statement. Unfortunately this article pops up first when gluten free at Taco John’s is googled. No dedicated friers at most TJs, also. Why would a person write an article and just assume what they want to assume?
