Wendy’s Gluten Free Menu (2023)

Last updated on Dec 23, 2022 by Adam Bryan. These menus are unofficial meaning they may not be accurate and can change at any time.

Wendy's Gluten Free Menu

Here is the complete Wendy’s gluten free menu.

Like most fast food restaurant menus, the Wendy’s gluten free menu consists primarily of salads, baked potatoes, and a Frosty.

Technically, you can get some burgers ordered without a bun in order to make it gluten free but Wendy’s can’t guarantee that it’s being prepared in a cross-contamination free environment. That said, it’s best to avoid burgers altogether.

Wendy’s Gluten Free Menu

Here are all of the gluten free options currently offered at Wendy’s.

Burgers and Sandwiches

You can order their burgers and sandwiches without a bun or wrapped in lettuce. In terms of cross contamination, there is a very high risk which means that even though some of the bunless burgers and chicken sandwiches are technically gluten free, they are prepared on a surface that may contain traces of wheat or gluten. As a result, I will only list plain burgers patties as a common courtesy.

Is the Baconator gluten free?

If ordered without the bun, then yes a Wendy’s Baconator is gluten free. However, even though the cheese, mayo, ketchup, bacon, and burger patty don’t contain gluten, these burgers are prepared on a shared surface which has a high risk of cross contamination.

Are Wendy’s french fries gluten free?

No, Wendy’s fries are not gluten free. Although the fry itself do not contain any gluten ingredients, they are cooked in a shared fryer with the same items that contain wheat.

Is a Wendy’s Frosty gluten free?

Not all Wendy’s restaurants have dedicated fryers. Ihave close to me and neither has dedicated fryers so their fries are not gluten free.

I was glutened at Wendy’s. I told them not to put it on a bun and told them why. It came out on a bun. This was in Columbus, NE.

My son can eat at one location of Wendy’s but at another location in our city, he gets “glutenized” – he’s a teenager and HATES when I say it that way. I am a visual person and I always picture eating out, with celiac, like playing the video game asteroids (wow, does that date me or what?!?!?!) with that nasty gluten flinging everywhere and if it hits, you are GLUTENIZED!
I spoke to a manger at “the good Wendy’s” that told me their fries are technically gluten free and are fried in a dedicated fryer ….BUT… he said the oil from both fryers go to the same area to be filtered. I would have had no clue, and would not have even thought to ask about oil being filtered together. Too much of a risk for my son, so he stays away from the fries at Wendy’s.
***Adam, thank you for your gf menu info!!!

since you go to the trouble to supply a gluten free menu, why don’t you carry gluten free buns.

Karin that’s a question you need to ask Wendy’s Corporate Office. This site is not their site.
It’s put together by an individual who gets his information from the companies and others then puts it together into a easy guide for us his readers to use when we decide to go eat at one of the listed restaurants. The cost is too great for the demand in a lot of places. Keeping a higher cost item just in case isn’t practical sometimes.

Depends on the brand. You’ll have check on the brands they use at your local restaurant, but you can also ask them to leave it off your salad.

Just to be on the safe side, I would avoid blue cheese, Michelle. Other fast food restaurant salads that have blue cheese crumbles, such as Chick Fil A’s, is not gluten free, so just to be safe, I wouldn’t risk it. I’ll check with Wendys to get clarification. And yes, I also agree with Em

Blue cheese has a protien value very similar to wheat protien. So its not a gluten, but celiac stomachs percieve it to be so our intestinal system cant digest it properly which is why we end up with symptons of being glutened.

If I’m out somewhere and need to eat (low blood sugar), I head for the nearest Wendy’s and have their chili with a baked potato or the Baja salad. I’ve never had a reaction yet & I’m extremely sensitive to any gluten. Hope this is helpful.

I got really sick after eating their chili with cheese on top a few months ago. It was the only time I had a problem (and the only time I had cheese). It was also the only thing that I had that it could have been. Because of this, I truly believe that their shredded cheese is not gluten free. Otherwise, Wendy’s is one of the easiest fast food restaurants locally for me to eat without fear.

Maybe you are dairy sensitive, as well. I am both gluten and dairy free – which makes eating out a real challenge! Might be worth looking into. I never suspected I was dairy intolerant until my doc put me on an elimination diet.

Shredded cheese i believe is not gluten free unless you shred it yourself. They toss it with flour to make it not stick.

Shredded cheese is gf it is not coated with flour to make it not stick. It’s a ” dairy powder” for lack of a better term. I live 10 miles from Sargento Cheese in WI. If you were glutened or made sick it was the chili it self or you have a lactose issue.

Has anyone had ANY problems with the Chili? I almost always have problems with chili everywhere, due to the fact that they often add some form of gluten as a thickener. I just stopped eating it all together. So I am having a really hard time wrapping my head around the fact that Wendy’s (my favorite fast food chili) is really GF! Any sensitivities?

Yes. Apparently some franchisees will frugally put the hamburger that has been sitting too long on a bun to be sold into the chili…increasing the meat in the chili and saving food (would have made sense to me before I was diagnosed with celiac!)..I had no problems several times with a small order of chili and a baked potato. However, last April, I had the same order in the same restaurant and threw up for 18 hours and was so weak for the next 7 days my husband had to do all my chores.

To Tricia……you will always have employees in fast food restaurants who don’t understand what a gluten allergy is regardless of how well you explain it. I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve asked for a burger patty ALONE and gotten it with a bun, pickles, etc. You just hand it back and tell them to start over!!!

NO FAST FOOD RESTAURANT IS SAFE TO EAT AT FOR A PERSON WHO HAS CELIAC DISEASE. THESE PLACES ARE NOT GLUTEN FREE, THEY ARE ARE A MONEY MAKING JOKE ON THE BACKS OF SICK PEOPLE. SHAME ON ALL THE RESTAURANTS THAT CLAIM TO BE GLUTEN FREE. CROSS CONTAMINATION KILLS. IT IS NOT FUNNY.

Unless I see the packages and ingredients I do not trust this list. Most sauces alone are filled with gluten. It’s used as a thickening agent. Same for shredded cheese; it’s used as an anti caking agent.
No way is this accurate. Reason 444 to do your own research and trust nothing. Experience and health issues has taught me this.
